Rihanna Releases New Album, ‘Anti’ and Gives Away New Single ‘Work’ for Free –
On Wednesday, a sudden new single by Rihanna titled “Work” appeared on the streaming platform Tidal. The single must have been accidentally leaked and was taken down, but not before someone purchased it and leaked it.
Rihanna posted a selfie of herself listing to her new album, ‘Anti’ while wearing Dolce & Gabbana golden, crystal-studded headphones attached to a gigantic crown. She also Tweeted the link to download the song for free.

According to The Guardian, “Rihanna’s Anti album campaign has been a case study in how not to release music. Having missed her usual November release date in both 2013 and 2014, the assumption was she’d follow 2012’s Unapologetic at some point in 2015. Rumoured release dates in the summer and then in November came and went, while world tours were announced and annoying, sponsorship-heavy teaser campaigns spluttered towards an end that seemed unlikely to ever come. Then suddenly on Wednesday a new single, Work, appeared, which has now been followed by the album, albeit in a typically shambolic way (apparently it was uploaded by accident to the streaming platform Tidal, in which Rihanna has a stake, but someone bought it and leaked it before it was taken down. It was later reposted officially, before Rihanna then decided to give it away for free.” Read more…
Billboard – The album, the singer’s eighth, has been pushed back repeatedly as she searched for a single to follow up last April’s “American Oxygen,” with sources saying the full project was initially planned for last May or June. Since then, rumored release dates in September, November and December came and went without an album as she continued to finalize the release, while the record-breaking sales of Adele’s 25, released Nov. 20, pushed the timetable to January in order to vie for a No. 1 debut on the charts, according to one source.
Complicating matters has been Rihanna’s $25 million deal with Samsung for the company to sponsor her album rollout and upcoming tour. After rumors of the deal first emerged at the end October, Rihanna tweeted a link Nov. 19 to the Samsung-powered website AntiDiary.com, which led fans to a mobile app in which they could explore a series of locked rooms. Since then, she has released seven promotional videos as rooms within the app unlocked, with the eighth room set to contain the album itself. But the final video still hasn’t arrived, and after initially sticking to a semi-weekly schedule, the pace of releases slowed, with the latest video posted to YouTube three weeks ago on Jan. 4.
