Amber Rose has no patience for victim-blaming. In a recent conversation on Tyrese Gibson and Rev. Run’s new relationship series, “It’s Not You, It’s Men”, the model and activist sets the record straight on the myths that often cloud the issue of consent.
Regarding the notion that women might be “asking” for sexual attention if they put out a certain type of “energy,” as Tyrese put it, Rose immediately cried foul.
Bustle – It all starts when the male hosts of the show begin discussing topics relating to consent — specifically, Gibson brings up the example that someone looks at a basketball player and knows they’re a basketball player, so they ask to play basketball with them and then compares it to the “energy being sent out there” by some women. Rose begins to emphatically repeat that it’s not the same thing, before going on to explain the fact that one’s clothing has nothing to do with consent — and that verbal consent trumps anything that might be implied by clothing or behavior:
