Tyree and Takuya Fluellen have pleaded guilty to child endangerment charges after 6 of their 11 children became ill from a bacterial infection after eating their own feces. Penn Live reports the Fluellens were charged in July 2015 after Steelton police and county children services workers responded to reports of an odor at their home. The Fluellens and their kids, ages 2 to 14, fled the home when officials arrived.
Children and Youth Services took custody of the couple’s children. Deputy District Attorney Katie Adam said six of the kids were suffering from a bacterial infection caused by ingestion of feces. Judge Deborah E. Curcillo ordered that pre-sentence investigations be conducted of the Fluellens before she sentences them next month.
Judge Deborah E. Curcillo said she hasn’t decided whether to accept sentencing agreements under which Tyree and Takuya Fluellen would receive 1- to 2-year prison terms followed by 8 years of probation.
