Prior to Colin Kaeprnick’s high-profile protest, the quarterback’s 49’ers jersey had been the 20th most popular of all those belonging to 49ers players, online sports publication SB Nation reported over the weekend.
The criticism over Colin Kaepernick’s stance to sit rather than stand for the playing of the National Anthem during his NFL games has got to sting at times. According to Fortune, “Kaepernick is mixed race, born to an overwhelmed single mom in a troubled Milwaukee zip code that may have doomed him to a deadly future if for the thousand little miracles – including his own talent and the care of a loving, adoptive family – that intervened. It can’t be fun for him to hear his patriotism and his blackness called into question.”
Since Kaepernick began his protest, many fans have said on social media that they want to purchase his jersey as a sign of solidarity.
