Professional Black Women Take a Different Approach to Finding a Good Black Man –

Many successful professional black women will admit that finding a good black man interested in long term love can be a very daunting and discouraging process.  There are countless articles tackling the subject of why black women can’t find a good man, but many of these articles, while full of excuses, fall short of assisting women by offering good advice on solving the problem.

So, to assist in helping black professional women find good black men, relationship coaches Kelli Fisher and Tana Gilmore offer an approach that has proven to work.

In a recent interview with Essence, the match making duo shared their approach to finding good black men and they also pointed out how white women and black women differ in their approach to finding and selecting men.

Gilmore explained that black women will first pay attention to how attractive a man is whereas white women make it a priority to focus on character and integrity.   The black woman’s approach to selecting a good black man often back fires because of incompatibility issues that arise later in the relationship. According to Gilmore, “We have clients that have a long laundry list of requirements—6 foot 4, with a Ph.D., never been married, no children, in his late 30s or early 40s—and a lot of times we then ask them, well, what are you bringing to the table? And, the answer is nowhere near all that. Why would you expect someone to have more than what you’re offering?”
