Coco and Breezy: Young Sunglasses Designers Share How they Grew Their Brand –

Coco and Breezy are  the young fashion accessory designers whose cutting edge sun glasses have been worn by style icons such as Rhianna, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Serena Williams, Kelly Osbourne, Ciara, Selita Ebanks, Theophilus London,  and many more celebrity clientele.

Coco and Breezy are twin sisters who grew up as best friends in the suburbs of Apple Valley , Minnesota.   As teens, they both displayed a tremendous work ethic and were very ambitious about fashion.   As they juggled school and three jobs, they managed to find the time to create artistic projects for themselves, including their highly sought after sunglasses.

As the  twins share their fashion vision and their struggles in the fashion accessory business along the road to success. They have some very sound advice for young entrepreneurs who may find it embarrassing to try and then fail.

“…I think a lot of people get embarrassed of their struggle, when really that’s part of the story.” – Breezy

The twins’ bold style and original taste in fashion was initially misunderstood in the community, leading them to develop unique signature studded eye wear that would shield their faces from onlookers and make fashion statement pieces that projected a cool confidence.

Below Coco and Breezy share their story with Shameless Maya:

In 2009, the twins took a trip to visit New York and while there,  people continued to ask where they could purchase their custom eye wear.  After a rush of ambition Coco and Breezy took to New York, without a place to live or any money saved.    Within one week Coco and Breezy’s eyewear had been seen on Kelly Osborne, on both Good Morning America and Dancing with the Stars, and singer Ashanti accessorizing her edgy look at the Hip Hop Honors.

Since the official launch Coco & Breezy have been featured in numerous publications such as Teen Vogue, WWD, Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Nylon, New York Magazine, InStyle, Paper, Essence, GQ, Timeout, Grazia, Biba, Idol, Dazed, ID, and more.  [See Coco and Breezy in the PRESS]

In 2012, Adidas enlisted the help of the twins for the US edition of its international project encouraging consumers to embrace their inner creator and customize their own unique designs.  This year, Coco and Breezy were highlighted as part of the The Black Enterprise Entrepreneurs Summit .
