Blacka Di Danca Follow Your Dreams Interview –
“…I was starving, but on Facebook I was the man…I hope my story can inspire somebody today to do what they love, just once in their life.”
Blacka Di Danca is one of the world’s top dance instructors. He travels around the world teaching dancehall workshops and he has worked with artists such as Justin Bieber, Diplo/Major Lazer, A$AP Rocky, Shaggy, Kiesza, Collie Buddz, and many more choreographing dance moves for their music videos.
In an interview with Gogettemworldtv, Blacka Di Danca shares his inspiring story revealing what he went through to reach his level of success as a dance instructor. He reflects back on how he went from full-time employment, to unemployment, to completely broke, to becoming one of the world’s top dance instructors… all within 5 years.
Almost 5 years ago, I made the decision to quit my full-time job to follow my dreams. I was not in the financial position to make that decision, and to be honest, I wasn’t sure where I wanted to go… I just knew I couldn’t stay where I was. I quit a full-time job with full union 32BJ benefits for my entire family to go on a one-month dance tour paying monthly what I made every week at work. Quitting wasn’t easy at all, and almost every single person in my life told me it was a dumb decision to quit a job to dance for a living… almost everyone advised me to stay at work and dance on my days off… but I knew that wasn’t good enough for me…. I almost cried trying to figure out what the right decision would be… to make consistent money that I could retire from, or to go against my loved ones advice and go broke for a living…. Inside, I knew that I would rather look back 50 years from now saying that “I tried something crazy when I was young and it didn’t work”, than “I wanted to follow my dreams when I was younger, but now I’ll never know if it would have worked out or not.” So… I quit, with not a dollar saved.
