Event planning isn’t as easy as it sounds. Set a date: One of the most important planning decisions that you’ll have to make as a couple is  choosing a wedding date.  Bridal Guide reports that your wedding date will impact every other aspect of your big day. “You may have an idea of where you envision yourself walking down the aisle or what you want your cake to look like, but until you decide when you’d like to get married, you can’t commit to anything. You might be asking yourself, “How do I pick a date that works for everyone and is still special to me?” or “Where do I even start?”

Set your budget. When setting your budget, think about the kind of wedding you would like to have. Then crunch some numbers.  Do some quick research to see if your expectations align with your budget.  If your numbers don’t match, you’ll need to re-evaluate.  Can you  or should you spend more money to make your ideal wedding happen?

Hire an event planner. Choose a planner that has experience and is passionate about creating an event to your specifications.

Make your guest list.  Making a guest list can get messy.   The Knot  explains that, “Traditionally the couple gets half the guest list, and each set of parents gets a quarter of the guest list. So if you’re planning to invite 200 people, you’d get 100 guests, your parents would get 50 and your fiance’s parents would also get 50. The most drama-free approach is to split the list evenly three ways.”

Pick your venue.  Regardless if you’re planning to host your event close to home or planning the wedding event in a destination in another city, state or country, you should consider the logistics of getting everyone to your event site.  You’ll also need to consider if there are hotels to accommodate your guest who travel from miles away.

Pick your vendors.  One  factor to consider when working with vendors is your rapport with the person(s) you’re working with.  If you’re not comfortable with them, then you may want to rethink  working with them.  Do they listen well and respond to your questions directly? Do they inspire trust and confidence?

Make a timeline.  Your timeline lets you, your vendors, your family, and your guests know when and where to be at precisely  every moment on your wedding day.   Your timeline should be designed with keeping everyone on time so that wedding day is stress free.
