Dallas Police Chief David Brown said in a statement, “We’re asking cops to do too much in this country.” His warning is that it puts police departments under too much pressure.
‘Every societal failure, we put it off on the cops to solve’ he added.
Brown admitted that he is ‘running on fumes’ and said that he and his family received death threats almost immediately after gunman Micah Johnson killed five of his police officers during a peaceful protest.
‘We are all worried for our safety. We are all on edge and being very careful,’ he explained. He said that part of the problem was that cops were increasingly expected to deal with everything from failing schools and drug addiction to dogs on the loose.
‘Every societal failure, we put it off on the cops to solve’ he added. As reported by Daily Mail, Brown has appealed for more people to become ‘part of the solution.’
‘We’re hiring,’ he said at a press conference on Monday. ‘Get off that protest line and put an application in. And we’ll put you in your neighborhood, and we’ll help you resolve some of the problems you’re protesting about.’
