Duke Blue Devils Running Back Jela Duncan Out With Season Ending Injury

On Saturday evening, Duke Blue Devils’ running back Jela Duncan suffered a torn Achilles tendon while celebrating a touchdown scored by teammate, Shaun Wilson. The injury will likely end the season for the 5’10”, 215 lbs running back who entered the 2016 season as Duke’s active leader in rushing yardage. Adding insult to injury, Duke lost the game, 38-35.

From Yahoo Sports: The injury will end Duncan’s collegiate career.

“Certainly we are all heartbroken for Jela and his family,” Duke head coach David Cutcliffe said in a media release. “His passion, toughness and level of commitment have been exemplary, and everyone in our program has benefited from his presence.”
