The Grammy winner, Chance the Rapper met with Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner about Chicago’s public school funding on Friday. Then on Monday, Chance the Rapper announced he will pledge $1 million to the Chicago Public School Foundation to help support Chicago public schools.
“Today I’m proud to announce that I am donating $1 million to CPS to support arts and enriching programming,” the rapper said to applause. “I’m excited to share that this donation was made possible by my fans.”
The rapper, is no stranger to the Chicago public school system. Growing up, he attended Chicago’s public schools and has been a vocal advocate for fixing the budget issues facing the city’s schools.
