A lace front wig is a special type of hairpiece designed with a sheer lace base. These extensions, wigs, or hairpieces are produced with real human hair known as Brazilian Remy. Remy hair is cut from a single donor and the word Remy refers to the harvesting process. Some wigs are synthetic and are tied by hand to a sheer lace base and are known as Yaki. Yaki hair refers the the harvesting process as well. Yaki hair is known for its texture and has a resemblance to relaxed Afro-American and Caribbean hair. Yaki hair may be Remy, non-remy, synthetic, or any combination.
Full lace wigs may have a base made entirely of lace while the more common practice is a lace front which has the sheer lace only at the front where the hairline is visible. The lace wig is usually attached with the assistance of hair glues and tapes applied to the front hair line area.
