The Power of Words
If you have ever attended a Sunday Morning Service, I am sure you have heard the verse, Life and Death or in the Power of the tongue and those who love it will eat its fruits. Word is defined as Speech or talk: to express one’s emotion in words, an expression or utterance. News or information, an undertaking or promise, a decree and order, a slogan.
From that definition alone you can see that Words have power and can dictate an action depending on the use of what is said.
Words can change a situation from heated to calm. Words can start a fight or end a disagreement without violence. Words can build up or Words can tear down. I often heard when younger to choose your words wisely. As a child I really didn’t understand how choosing my words wisely would make a difference, but as time has progressed and as I have experienced life, personal and professional I have learned the value and Power of the words I speak.
What are you saying or speaking about your situation? What are you saying regarding your life? What are you saying or speaking about others, your Mecca Sisters, your family, your children?
To “Say” is defined as “to utter words so as to convey information, an opinion, a feeling or intention, or an instruction.”
So when you speak or say something negative you or sending out an instruction or intention regarding your situation!
If you are wondering why things are going wrong or not quite like what you want. Change what you say. Speak what you desire, even if you don’t see. You can absolutely change your circumstances, your money, your health, your Life.
If we want to change our lives and our destiny, we need to consciously choose the words we use to describe our emotional states. What would happen if, the next time you were in a situation that used to make you feel angry or annoyed, you used a word like I am “peeved” instead of “enraged to describe your experience? Conversely, if someone asks you how you’re doing, think of the difference between responses like “Oh, I’m okay, and I’m Awesome, Fabulous and Amazing “The words you put on your experience of the day become our experience. Therefore, I say choose your words wisely.
Words not used in the correct way bring wreck, havoc, and disharmony to those whom the words are fired towards. However, one good, edifying word brings joy and hope to those who need it most. The ways words are said reveal the condition of the heart and the status of the circumstance. When used correctly, words have the power to change the world.
One of the things I do to empower me through words are to speak #affirmations. An affirmation is a statement that is carefully crafted to address an unwanted pattern and transform it through the use of positive thought. An affirmation or affirming statement can be a phrase that is written down or a statement that is repeated verbally. An affirmation may also be an audio recording that is listened to repeatedly. Affirmations focus attention on the positive outcome of a situation, and are structured to affirm that the positive outcome is already a reality.
